Mamihlapinatapai

Mamihlapinatapai (sometimes spelled mamihlapinatapei) is a word from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego, listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the “most succinct word”, and is considered one of the hardest words to translate.[1] It describes “a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that both desire but which neither one wants to start.”       -Wikipedia

i love this word. lol we learnt it in ki during our linguistics module but i never got ard to putting it in my superior notes cos the word was just too hard to memorize. e other one that i also really liked (and used in essays) is the jap word aware. it means the ‘feeling engendered by ephemeral beauty’. such an awesome word right. we have no equivalent in english, which is why we have so little wonder at transience. we don’t even have a word to describe it! so much for e pura lingua~ ok la cannot be dismissive every tool has its failings.
